Everyone knows how expensive hotels can be, especially in nicer areas or on weekends. Well, to help you out a bit, we gathered a few useful tricks to get you lower prices when booking a hotel. So, next time you’re planning a vacation or even a weekend getaway, keep these in mind!
Compare Different Sites
This may be an obvious one, but we needed to add it since it’s so useful. Don’t just settle for the first price you see – check multiple sites and see the price differences. At times, hotels will have some kind of discount on bookings through their own sites, or offer special packages you weren’t aware of.
Ask For A Corner Room
If you can, ask for a corner room. You will be getting more square footage for the same amount. Only try to be discreet about it. Avoid asking for it when there are other guests waiting to be assisted.
Check-In Later
If you’re hoping to get some kind of upgrade, you’re better off checking in closer to the end of the day. Why? Because by the end of the day, hotels typically have a better idea of occupancy and will be more likely to offer upgrades that are still available.
Call The Hotel Directly
Instead of calling the 800 reservation lines, call the hotels directly. Doing so will give you the chance to talk to the people working there directly, upping your chance of getting an upgrade. On top of that, keeping a friendly relationship with a hotel you stay in regularly will increase your perks.
Book Within The Cancellation Periods
Sometimes, waiting until the last minute can be beneficial when it comes to booking hotels. It could get you a better price for that expensive room you wanted. Normally, a hotel’s cancellation falls anywhere between 24 and 48 hours before the booking. At that point, the room will be available at a cheaper price.
